About John Warren
John Warren Gets It.
John Warren gets the issues.
- He owns a small business.
- He’s dealt with crack dealers in his neighborhood.
- He pioneered the revitalization of our historical landmarks.
- He has created centers for the arts.
- He has invested in our quality of life.
John Warren gets how the city has changed. John has been involved in business and redevelopment in St Petersburg since the age of 24. He himself has changed and evolved with the city. He believes that a combination of arts and commerce will bring a balance to the budget.
John Warren gets that the city must change.
John is not running for mayor to advance his political career. John is running because he believes that there are many great things about St Petersburg, and many that could be better. Some of his platform is based on a citizen-driven creation of a master city plan that spans the next 20 years. He believes decisions made about our future must be driven from the desires of an educated public. More about The Plan.
John Warren gets our history, arts and culture.
Many of his investments of time and money have been geared toward art and historic preservation. He established a preservation and redevelopment plan for the 200 block of Central Avenue, which created the Jannus Landing Redevelopment. From that came the 200 Block Property Owners Association on which he was a board member for 3 years.
In 1993 he was the developer and project manager for the Salt Creek Artworks. This building is still open and serving the arts community here in St. Petersburg. He was the property owner of the Studebaker Arts Center in 1984 and created a plan to combine inexpensive studio work space with a gallery, restaurant and other art related retail spaces.
John Warren gets that we all need to get involved.
Even with all his small business pressures and hard work on restoration projects, John has volunteered his time on the St. Petersburg Preservation Inc., St. Petersburg Historical Society, South Pinellas County Senior Citizen board, and works numerous committees at the Pasadena Community Church.
